5 Tips For Farming Gold in World of Warcraft

By Joanne Keith

There are many ways to farm gold in World of Warcraft, but many people still find it hard to earn enough and are more inclined to buy gold in the real world. Admittedly, farming fold is a gaming skill that comes with experience and learning. I do not buy gold, but I did spend quite some time in advancing gold making skills in my first year and I managed to make quite a few characters across different servers. I was even able to trade epic flyers for five characters just in my year one.

As a new player, you can start farming some gold by collecting just any items from the game. Things from mining, skinning, fishing, cooking mats to cloth can all be sold for quite some gold in the Auction House.

Here are some tips you can follow to farm gold.

1. Spend about thirty minutes a day in gathering mats. That will accumulate to big amount in the long run. If you look at the Auction House, you will find that there is a good supply of Northrend mats, as more and more people are in that area now. So, you may like to get mats in Outland or even in Pre B.C. to avoid huge competition.

2. Keep monitoring the Auction House and try to spot items with less competition before you go about to farm a target.

3. Target those items that are easy to get and easy to sell, and a good example is the deviate fish in the Barrens. They are not difficult to fish, but can sell for about 15 gold per stack. How many stacks do you think you can get in 30 minutes? 2 or possibly 3?

4. Frequent yourself in the auction house and get familiar with the average prices of the items that you intend to sell. If the price of a particular item drops in one day, don't panic. You should know that price fluctuation is only normal and it does not hurt to wait a few days until the price goes back to its average.

5. Keep yourself updated on the average selling price of different items at the Auction House by visiting sites like Thott or Wowhead. That way, you will never under-price your item an may even be able to spot opportunities for arbitraging.

What we have discussed in this article about farming gold in World of Warcraft may seem boring and dull to some players, but they do work. For those who are just starting out, I would suggest that you avoid the shortcuts and learn the basics. That way, you will have a good foundation when it comes the time to learn more advanced techniques.
